Day 21- Dreaded Poison Ivy

Day 21- Dreaded Poison Ivy

Hi All,

I would call this day the "Poison Ivy Day," because it had really gotten the best of me. I was so frustrated!  We woke up from our camp site and packed up quickly in the light rain. As we had planned the night before, we walked across the street to Denny's and enjoyed hot coffee and tasty chicken sandwiches. We asked about the closest clinic or urgent care to get some steroids, but the only one for the next 50 miles or so was closed on Saturdays. That left us with choosing the ER to take care of the rash. I was pretty stubborn about going, because it cost $100 to make a visit just for the doctor to tell me what I already knew and write up a prescription. I just didn't feel it was worth it when every other time I have had it I just wait it out. But, I was in a different circumstance and Levi really insisted. The hospital was in Woodstock, so we knew we would make it by late afternoon.

On our way we went through a small town called Strasburg (our second town of the name) and when we passed by an art store a lady called after us. She invited us in and let us know she had seen Levi and I walking the day before. Marcy was a fun bubbly woman who put me in a good mood! She insisted on a picture before leaving, and then we were off again.

The ER visit was fast and easy and exactly as I expected. "Looks like you have a case of Poison Ivy," well ya no crap! I was handed a prescription for some steroids and we walked over to CVS to fill it. Taco Bell was right there, and as unauthentic as it is, a bean burrito sure did sound good. After dinner we follwed the unused train tracks to a camp spot and ended the day.

Healing from the dreaded Poison Ivy,

Shikira
