Day 27- Let's Get to a Town

Day 27- Let's Get to a Town

Howdy,
Levi and I got a good early start this day. We woke up and walked down the hill near the homestead where there was some signal. John Hart caught up to us and directed us toward the Country Cafe, a restaurant Chris and Bill had suggested. It was almost a mile out of our way, but it was very much worth it. I finally found some unsweetened ice tea! We enjoyed our breakfast, but when we went to pay she said John Hart had already paid for our meal. What a sweetheart! We ran into him by the post office and were able to thank him before heading out of hot springs.
We walked twelve miles before stopping for a snack and to fill our waters at a spring. We ran into a man there who let us know that we wouldn't see a town the route we were headed, so we decided to reroute through Covington so we could get some groceries. Plus, he let us know we could take the old railroad tracks all the way there, because it was turned into a trail. The trail was beautiful, even through the steady light rain. As we got close to Covington we heard something loud, and then we saw the gigantic paper mill in the middle of the town. We got through the town and thought about getting a motel room, but they were asking more than we were willing to pay. Instead, we found a spot tucked back by the mountain past a huge field. It was great, and we were excited to do some errands in the morning before heading out.
