Day 46- Seeing Knoxville

Day 46- Seeing Knoxville

Hi,
Day 46 was wonderful. We woke up and enjoyed a great breakfast with Ron and Betty. Ron mentioned contacting the newspaper/news station, and he ended up getting us in with the local NBC down the street. They drove us to the station and we were interviewed for the "live at 5 at 4" show. Ron talked about the blue plate special downtown which is live music at the radio station during lunch hour, and it sounded like something we would enjoy so we went down to check it out. What a treat it was to hear some live music and see a little more of what Knoxville is about. Afterward Betty and Ron took us out to lunch in market square. We drove by the park where they had the world's fair some years ago and then made it back out to the mall where they had picked us up the night before. We had a great time with them!
Levi and I made a quick atop at Barnes and Noble a block after getting dropped off so Levi could pick up a book, and then we were on our way. I didn't think it would be hard to start up again, but after taking a week off, my body was already not used to walking with a pack. So, we were at a bit of a slow pace and we had also gotten a late start. We took a few breaks, but we stayed on the same road the entire day. It started to get a little more rural, and we found a spot that looked like it would be good to camp at around seven. At the same time we got a phone call from Ron. Him and Betty offered to come pick us up again and let us stay one more night at their place since we hadn't made it but twelve miles or so down the road. We were very grateful and accepted their offer! Plus, it pushed us to walk for another hour.
At eight we decided to grab a bite to eat at a Chinese food place. We went in and immediately were telling a group about our trip. Tad overheard and ended up paying for our meal and offering to let us stay with him- how kind! He had his meal for take out and Levi and I ended up sitting with the group who were asking us about our trip. They were Mormon, and two were from Utah on their mission who told us their message. It was fun chatting, and before we knew it we were getting picked up. It was great to stay another night with Ron and Betty and also great to get another shower. It got late fast, and we enjoyed another good night's rest in their wonderful home.
