Day 53- A Campfire

Day 53- A Campfire

Hey there,
Levi and I packed up pretty early and ran into a breakfast place as soon as we started walking. It happened to be the first day it was open again since undergoing new ownership, and it was busy! The food was great and a nice start to the day.
We walked on and quickly left the small town of Smithville into rural and residential areas. Levi and I ended up being stopped by Reed, an employer of the local newspaper, and his black pug who interviewed us. We also ran into Tom who invited us in for water. I mostly listened while him and Levi had civil conversation about politics and religion. He was a real nice and passionate  man.
We found a gas station for lunch and were able to escape the little bit of rain. Onward we went when we realized we missed our turn by a mile due to lack of street signs! I really dislike going out of the way, buy we made it onto the mountain road and it was beautiful. We talked to local sheriffs at one point who were nice and checking in to make sure we were doing okay. I was doing okay until after that when I felt kinda sick, but it quickly passed.
It was getting closer to dark when we were stopped by Mary and her son Mark. They mentioned camping on their land, and we jumped at the opportunity. Her husband, tony, was on the tractor moving hay while Levi and I set up the tent. They suggested a fire, and we have yet to get the chance to build one, so we were quite excited. Mary went to get house a couple miles away and camp back with wood, marshmallows, and fresh tomatoes from her garden. They were really great, and we were greatful not only for the camp spot, but for the camp fire!

Slept sound,
Shikira
