Day 60- More Heat

Day 60- More Heat

Hi,
Packing up in the morning after the huge storm was a bit of a challenge. We tried to get things dried as best we could, but it definitely took a while to get on the road. If you haven't picked up on this already, we are very motivated by food. Amelia pulled over to say hi and said a little restaurant was about ten miles down. The road was a bit up and down, but we made it to the restaurant. Inside we chatted with Daniel, Ida, and Elsa and they were very interested in our trip. As they left Daniel told us he had paid for our meal. I tell ya, Levi and I are continually amazed at the generosity of people we meet and are very thankful.
The rest of the day was rather uneventful, and again the heat was intense. At one point the heat got to me and we stopped in the shade. I took a short nap while Levi read a chapter in his book. The sun started to go down when we made it to a gas station for a cold, refreshing drink. It was a bit after six, and we were close to a town, so we figured we would camp right before it. We climbed up a hill on the side of the road and found a flat spot. I was surprised at how hot it still was for being close to dark. Levi rigged up a little extra rain protection with one of the trash bags, so we fared well in the rain that night. Again, a good night's sleep.
Happy and Healthy,
Shikira
