Day 74- Bad Blister

Day 74- Bad Blister

Hey Hey,

Levi and I had the earliest start yet this day-5am! We left the house with Ina and got dropped off where she picked us up. It was a short homestay, and we wished we could have talked with her and Allen more, but we really appreciated them taking us in. The first hour or so of walking was in the dark and quite chilly. But, we stopped to watch the sunrise, and it was so beautiful and well worth walking in the dark for a bit. I had started to feel a painful blister the night before, but it was really bad this day. On the bottom of my foot between my big and second toe was a bad spot, because so much pressure goes there with each step. I ended up deciding to try puncturing it to relieve some of the pressure. While we pulled over, we decided to take a short nap. We ended up getting woken up by a Sheriff car that pulled up. He was nice, but said someone had called in so he had to run our ID's and we had to keep moving. Popping the blister made it feel a little better, but not as much as I hoped.

Not long after our Police encounter we saw a SUV pull over. We had the pleasure of meeting Mary Anne, a fun and spunky woman in yellow who said she had been looking for us all morning. She saw us the day before and had wanted to take us to lunch but lost us when we went into WalMart. Instead, she handed us some money and said "Here's for a hotel room, I know you will enjoy that." She was so fun and upbeat, oh and she gave us some delicious cake too!

We walked to Augusta, and my foot was really killing me. We took advantage of the library there and got a warm welcome from the librarian who said, "the woman in yellow called ahead to let me know you were coming and to welcome you."  We spent some time on the computer and then walked to the one tiny motel the town had. I appreciated resting and taking pressure off my blister, but getting up so early made me very tired towards the end of the day. I got a nice phone chat with my parents, and then fell asleep right after.

Bad Blister is now better,
