Day 77- Nice Dogs

Day 77- Nice Dogs

Hello,
Day 77, a.k.a. 10 weeks in, Wahoo! We had a little left over pizza and ate that for breakfast before hitting the road. I thought we were finished with hills for a while, but we had a beautiful hill section in the morning that we came through. The whole day we had so many encounters with cute, friendly dogs. We took an opportunity to ask one owner of two Weiner dogs if we could fill our water bottles. He said he had lived in san Jose area for a while, near my home! Kinda crazy.
We made it to Mt. Vernon as a church service had just gotten out. We were excited to see a coke machine, and as we were feeding some dollars into it, Mark came up to us to say hi. He was great, and after several invites to his home  we finally agreed to meet him and his wife, Karen, down the street. They were so good to us! Fed us lunch, dessert, and a coke (since the machine ate out two dollars) and asked us all about our trip. It was a great break, and we were really glad we got to meet them.
Later in the day we stopped for a minute and these two little guys snuck up behind us from the woods. They were timid at first but once they got to smell us were so fun! We ended up having to run them off to their home, because they wanted to follow us. I was hoping to stop a little early, but both sides of the road had fence for a long way. We walked longer than I wanted. Finally, we were able to climb to the top of a hill and found a nice flat spot. Oh, it felt so good to be off my feet!

Ten weeks in,
Shikira
