Day 78- Gas Station Camping

Day 78- Gas Station Camping

Hi,
We climbed off the mountain and back onto the blacktop. Greenbrier wasn't far off, but before we got there Mike stop to talk. He made us feel very achieved and offered up an inside info on the town. Furthermore, he gave us enough cash to pay for lunch and road snacks.
Greenbrier was great. Harps grocery store offered great deals on deli foods and was very clean. We left stuffed, stocked, and with left overs.
Gravel roads rocked our ankles, but nice dogs kept smiles on our faces. Dj and James stopped to help predict mileage and then again further down the road with exact mileage. A couple other locals helped by giving directions to the nearest filling station. 1.3 miles off route we opted for it.
Upon arrival at the Exxon we were greeted by the owners daughter. After heating our calzones, we chatted with her and her parents. They lived out back and, after telling them we planned on camping in the woods, they invited us to set up the tent outback.
Just about asleep we heard three to five gun shots. We quickly realized that the sounds were actually produced by a flipping big rig. We were set up on one side of I40 and on the otherside was now a dozen emergency vehicles. Across the street a helicopter and landed and collected the 18 wheelers driver.
The excitment was fun, but the reality was really concerning and sad. We went to sleep with the driver and his family in our thoughts.
To the drivers good health,
Levi
