Day 89- Salon Sleeping

Day 89- Salon Sleeping

Hey again,

Woke up a bit late. Luckily the camping spot we slept was a good one. The weather had turned and we bundled up in flannels, silk long johns, and rain jackets. Kira's body was hurting and we had a ways into the next town. Before we made it into town Joyce stopped to give us a little McDonalds money and helped with directions. It was a bit out of the way, but we were hungery and, as much as I hate to admit it, wanted to play Monopoly. We looked up the odds of winning while we waited for our food and as suspected they were really bad odds. Kira was excited anyhow and we enjoyed the warmth of the place. We changed into pants and hit the road, but not before being targeted by a preacher. Preachers are constantly wanting to give us literature.

We walked a little to far and had to reroute through a little college. It wasn't long before we were on gravel. It was a long, cold, windy walk to Checotah, but the cold kept us moving and we only took one break for cocoa. Upon arrival we stopped at Katy's Kitchen.

They had a refreshing menu and we both opted for the tortilla soup. We chatted with those around us and enjoyed the warm coffee. Are meal was taken care of by two people we never got a chance to talk to. The owner (who was also our server) came over and offered us a place to sleep for the evening. She had an old salon that she was converting back into a house. We couldn't say no and before we knew it we had our packs dropped off and were on our way to the owners house for a shower. Robert and Donna's house was well decorated and we had his and hers bathrooms to clean up in. After we knocked the dirt off we headed to her new salon for a quick tour. Back to the old salon we had gotten a tour of the entire town. We folded out the futon and called our parents before falling to sleep.

To good furtune and better weather,

Levi
