Day 97- De Ja Vu

Day 97- De Ja Vu

Up up and away,

We hit the road at check-out time as normal. Before even making it a mile the rain hit like a ton of bricks. Luckily there were three overpasses in sight. Under the first one we laughed and joked about the rain. Under the second one the rain started to calm and before hitting the third overpass we had quickened our pace and were Bass Pro Shop bound. The rain picked up as we got closer, but our packs weren't too wet to head in. We checked our things at the customer service counter and killed an hour shopping for gloves for Kira. It was her first time to one of these huge sporting good stores and she was a bit overwhelmed. The rain slowed and we went across the street to a McDonalds to turn in some game pieces and get some free food. After updating our personal budgets we headed out.

The rain stopped! Back through Brick Town we headed to the Museum of Art. Chihuly was permanently on display and we took our time walking through. While sitting for the second time near a piece titled "the way things go" (one of my favs) we noticed that a soft ball sized piece of the ceiling had collapsed in. This was a suprise, but not a big one because we had recently found out that we were in a tornado watch. The rain outside was insane and it even hailed for a bit. We wandered around in the lobby for a while trying to figure out whether to call a cab and hit the hotel again or to wait for the rain to stop and head for the edge of town. Our decision was made when the lady at the front desk comped us a set of tickets to the movie theater that was attached to the museum. We took the 5:30 show instead of the 8 o'clock one. This allowed us to watch "Beasts of the Southern Wild" (highly recomended) before exiting the theater to clear skies.

Amazingly it was still light out and we rushed back, on foot and into the night time, to the same parking lot we had left this morning to get a room in the, only slightly less nice, Econolodge. A quick but fun dinner at the Waffle House filled us up. The staff was new and they had a lot of spunk. We settled into bed as happy as bugs in a rug.

To getting the heck out of Oklahoma City in the morning,

Levi
