Day 101- Tunnel Camping

Day 101- Tunnel Camping

Hey Hey,

Didn't sleep to well in the Tee-Pee, but no worries we were in for another good meal at the Cherokee Restaurant. Shannon our waitress had lived in California for a while and was eager to hear about our journey. She said she had a "gypsy" son and I think that she saw a bit of him in us. We ate another great meal and Shannon grabbed the bill (thanks again Shannon!).

We stopped again at the gift shop to grab some post cards and a B-day gift for Kira's dad. They helped us out with shipping which was really kind. On our way out the door a man warned of heavy wind.

He wasn't kidding, the wind was really moving. We walked with a good lean for an hour or two before making a left hand turn to find a sheltered road behind two hills. The road was less traveled and we were in and out of different native american nations. At one point we came to a large and very old steel bridge. It spanned 3000 feet and had no shoulder. We navigated it carefully, but Kira's hat flew off so we had to turn around. I went for the hat and then we tackled the bridge once again. Dodging traffic from side to side and hopping over the rails we made our way across slowly.

A Love's station offered up lunch only a quarter mile off route then it was back onto 66 for the remainder of the day. Just before coming to the town of Hydro we found a drainage tunnel that would serve as our camp out for the night. No rain in the forcast we slid our tent between the walls of tunnel and hit the sack. Kira kept up to date on the Giants game via text message. The stars were bright and the animals were only slightly noisy.

To Shikira for being amazing,

Levi
