Day 102- Free Meals

Day 102- Free Meals

Hey There,

The morning of day 102 was pretty chilly. We walked the seven miles into Weatherford, OK. The first place we saw to eat ended up being a pretty iconic place on Route 66; it was called Lucille's Roadhouse. We sat in the 50's style diner and ate all you can eat breakfasts. I ended up eating 5 biscuits! Adrian, a younger girl, came over and said hi and talked to us about our trip. When it came time to paying the bill our waitress told us that Adrian worked there also and took care of it already. Once again, the kindess of others was very much appreciated.

When we got into town we stopped at the library for a little bit to do some updating and check our emails. We headed out of town, and the wind really picked up. We were walking alongside I40, so the traffic was loud. We played the "name the state capitals" game again with the list we found. I am getting much better at it. After some time we saw multiple billboards for the Cherokee Trading Post. We figured it was probably different than the first one with the teepee. Well, what a joke it was! Levi was really looking forward to some pie, as advertised, but the restaurant was non-existant, and the store was not nearly as good. We were disappointed, but ended up getting a sandwich at the Love's gas station. We met George and Velvet, a couple who ended up paying for our sandwich and candy bars, and then we left right as it was getting dark. The terrain was starting to change, so it was a bit weird camping in a little more openness on the red clay. I was a little intimidated, but we got a good night's sleep there.

Getting through Oklahoma,
