Day 130- Seventeen Straight

Day 130- Seventeen Straight

Big Smile,

Today was great! It was really easy to pack up because we didn't have to set up the tent. Horses were nibbling on the grass out back of our gas station. We knew that a truck stop was 8 miles down the road and so we had the motivation we needed to walk fast. The sign said that breakfast ended at 11, meaning that the place had a restaurant. This news made us very happy. At one point Kira remarked on the number of billboards leading up to the truckstop. That was until we got three miles away and then we both had to laugh at the advertisements. They had at least 25 signs within 4 miles of they place. Unfortunately the restaurant was actually a DQ. We were still happy to get some food. The place was packed full of indian goods, knifes, and stuffed snakes (no suprise here).

Seventeen miles to Clines Corners where my new phone had been shipped. The post office closed at four, so there was no way we would make it in time to pick it up. However, the place had very good signs and we were set on getting as close as possible. We were motivated and pushed harder than we ever had. Kira hoped that we could find a spot to camp and set up before going into the truck stop town. She got her wish, we walked seventeen miles straight (our longest breakless walk to date) to set up a tent on the off ramp shoulder. Inside the restaurant was closed, but subway offered up some sandwiches. I picked up some gloves and a beany because the weather has been getting colder and colder. We each finished our footlongs and then headed back to the tent where our sleeping bags were already layed out.

Since it gets dark at 5:30 and the sun doesn't come up until 6ish we have 13 hours of tent time each night. There isn't a whole lot to do in the tent, so most of the time we just attempt to sleep through the long nights. This night, however, I woke up to pee and couldn't go back to sleep. Kira woke aswell and we spent about an hour joking about how insane this trip has been. Finally we got to sleep and I dreamed of a new Iphone.

To 25 miles and two truck stops,

Levi
