Day 181- Our Journey Complete

Day 181- Our Journey Complete

Friends, Family and Followers,

I woke up this morning on my brother in law's brother's floor. People came flooding in not to long after I woke up. Kira was at a hotel with her parents; we figured that we had spent the six months together, so what was one night. My parents were getting close to LA, they had split the long drive in two and would be arriving just in time. Breakfast was all smiles and people were still eating when I asked Mom, who had arrived, to give me a ride to the spot where we had ended yesterday. With a little over three miles left, today would be a short day. Kira was on time for our departure. Her sister and mom were going to walk with us. It was nice having company.

Little did we know that our group would snowball. Along the way we picked up Kieth and Chris (brother in law's parents) and Shikira's father. James and Laurel (last nights host family) came next and they brought some friends. Our first day in New York we were suprised to be staying in the same apartment as one of Kira's sorority sisters, Sara, she just happened to be in town the same day we were. Our finish line wasn't far from where she was now living and so she joined us (her and a friend, our group continued to grow). She brought this rad set of balloons: one congrats balloon, an engagment balloon, and finally a patriotic one, all of which were surrounded by red white and blue. By the time we approached the finish line we were standing in a crowd of 20 or more people.

Two blocks to go and the group went ahead. We could see my parents with a finish line all set up. They had gotten a huge banner, and under it was even more people. Goodness graciousness, we really are fortunate to have so many good friends. We walked the last couple of blocks and under the huge sign. People asked questions about our trip and we did our best to answer, but I was a bit overwhelmed by all the attention. I just kept thinking of those quite days in the desert. We took pictures on the Santa Monica Pier, then headed for the beach. After a lot of smiling and a ton of pictures we decided on pizza, it only seemed fitting given how much we had eaten on this trip. The banner my parents picked up read, "where one journey ends, another journey begins." This trip brought Kira and me closer to eachother, closer to those around us, and closer to america. The finish line was bitter sweet, but I sure am looking forward to the next adventure! Marriage, Tiny House, and a fairy tale life here I come!

Thanks to everyone that helped make this trip so amazing,

Levi
