Day 9- A Slow Pace

Day 9- A Slow Pace

Hi there,

Let's fill you in on day 9! We woke up to Bob's ducks quacking in the pond, and I wasn't quite ready to wake up yet. We packed up our gear and started walking down hwy 30 yet again. I had a weird pain in my right hip that was really bothering me, so we took the opportunity to stop at the diner a couple miles in for breakfast. I ordered some French toast and Levi got s tasty omlet and we enjoyed the classic diner feel of the restaurant. Before leaving, we chatted with a group of older gentlemen about our trip.
We continued along to coatesville, a town we were advised to move quickly through, and luckily my hip felt much better. Indeed it was a town that was best traveled early in the morning as we doing, because it was not the safest town. When we reached the end there was a long, steep uphill section that really tinkered me out. We rested under a tree by a school and Levi made fun of me for taking a small nap. We continued on 30 for a few more miles and stopped at a large grassy section. Levi and I both opted for a nap, and our alarm didn't go off so we both had a much needed two hour nap. We knew we had some mileage to spare, so the slow pace was acceptated and we trekked on. We were stopped by three wonderful women within fifteen minutes. The first was Maggie and she gave us some waters, the third was Deserie who had some snacks for us,  the third was Laura who right away asked if we wanted a place to stay for the night. We graciously accepted her offer and the bonus was that it was only a mile down the road.
When we arrived we met her husband, Kim, and Laura made us some dinner. We learned about their passion for motorcycling and Kim helped us find a less busy road to travel on to Lancaster. We were all showered up and very thankful to stay in a comfy bed. We definitely had a great night's sleep and enjoyed the company of our great hosts. Plus it was only fifteen miles to our stop in Lancaster the next day!
Best,
Shikira & Levi
